ITC Hotels promoted Anil Chadha from his previous position as Chief Operating Officer (COO) to Divisional Chief Executive. He will now lead the hotel chain’s entire portfolio.
Chadha joined the ITC in 1992 as a graduate of the Welcomgroup School of Hotel Administration. After a short hiatus of a few years, he spent his entire career with the brand, managing major hotels in New Delhi, Agra, Calcutta, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
He has held various key positions including General Manager ITC Maurya, Vice President, Hospitality Operations, Vice President, ITC Hotels Southern Region and General Manager of ITC Grand Chola. As Vice President South and General Manager, he was responsible for expanding the WelcomHotel and Luxury Collection brands across South India and building hotels such as WelcomHotel Coimbatore and WelcomHotel Kences Palm Beach, Mahabalipuram.
In another major step, ITC Hotels is introducing two new brands – Storii and Mementos for the premium and luxury segments – in line with its broader strategy to provide travelers with a different experience. “Over the next five years we plan to double the number of our hotels, which are currently more than 100 hotels with 10,000 plus keys,” said Chadha. He added that Storii would have a boutique hotel with 15 to 50 rooms, while the Mementos hotel would have at least about 100 rooms.
ITC Hotels adopted the ‘asset right’ management contract model three years ago to scale its growth. According to Chadha, this change in strategy benefits the company. The four recent market launches under the Welcomhotel brand in Shimla, Katra and Chail or Bhubaneswar received an encouraging response and prompted the company to introduce Storii and Mementos.
