OYO appoints Paralympics medalist Deepa Malik as independent director

Global player Oravel Stays Limited (“OYO”) has appointed Dr. Deepa Malik, an Indian athlete and silver medalist at the 2016 Paralympic Games, was appointed as Independent Director to the company’s board of directors on 26 September 2021. dr. Malik is currently the President of the Indian Paralympic Committee (PCI).

Welcoming its newest board member, Ritesh Agarwal, group chairman, founder, and CEO, OYO said, “I learned during my travels that having a diversified board is one of the best ways to apply lateral thinking on a board. We hope to Dr. Malik to the OYO Board of Directors. In recent years we have worked to make our company and our board of directors more inclusive. dr. Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Deepa Malik. “I am honored to join OYO’s Board of Directors and look forward to working closely with Ritesh, the management team and my fellow board members.”

dr. Malik joins the OYO Board of Directors, which has three other independent directors and one nominated director in addition to Chairman Ritesh Agarwal. Other independent directors, according to the board, are Bejul Somaia, W Steve Albrecht and Troy Alstead.

Bejul is a partner of India’s Lightspeed Partners. Steve is a certified internal auditor and fraud expert. Troy is the former chief operating officer of Starbucks.

The board also includes Aditya Ghosh, former director of InterGlobe Group (Indigo), as non-executive director. Ritesh Agarwal, RA Hospitality Holdings and SoftBank Vision Fund are OYO’s largest shareholders.
